METHONI
Methoni stands where the Ionian Sea joins the waters of the Mediterranean. It is a small but picturesque town that hides on the beach one of the finest and best preserved castles in Greece and the Mediterranean. Systematically built and fortified by the Venetians who highlighted Methoni as an important trading center since it is located on the navy route –Venice- East.
The entrance to the castle is achieved via a stone bridge based on 14 impressive arches. Impressive gigantic walls, mighty towers and monumental gates. From the reconstructed sea gate one can see the famous Mpourtzi built on a small island with embrasures and a tower. (37 km)
